Ethics Debate at Stanground College
On Friday 9 Feb Ollie Killingback was invited to take part in a debate at Stanground College, Peterborough. Also on the panel were the Bishop of Huntingdon, Dr John Inge, Imam Gul Mohammed and Julian Cohen-Gold. Unfortunately the Imam was prevented from being present by a death in the family. Questions were posed by members of the sixth form. There were more questions than could be answered in the time available, so drafts of Ollie's answers to the full set are to be found here.
There were 15 questions in all. For two of them Ollie's answers overlapped, so they are taken together here. Those were a general question about captial punishment and a particular one about the execution of Saddam Hussein.
These are draft answers and might not correspond too closely to what was actually said in the event. But they do describe Ollie's position on each topic reasonably well. The drafts took into account the time available for a reasonable answer and are not meant to be full or complete. Indeed in some instances a full and complete answer would require a substantial book.
